LUX* Island Resorts has a concept and its name is Island Light, celebrating the nature, culture, flavour and wares of the islands we call home and there’s just a lovely quality to the light in the Indian Ocean. Thanks to smartphones and the recent huge rise in sales of DSLRs we are now taking more photographs than we’ve ever taken, sharing them with more people than ever. The Indian Ocean boasts some fine artists and many of those live and work close to our resorts. What better way to celebrate the life of the islands than to bring these artists to our resorts to exhibit their work and teach classes.
The Arty Set is a scene celebrating the culture and the nature of the islands, allowing guests to create a unique memory of their stay. Working with a local artist can be an incredibly relaxing way of spending a morning and the beautiful beaches and lagoons lend themselves perfectly to an artist’s brush.
We’re privileged to be able to operate in the settings we currently enjoy and we believe it’s important to give back to the community as much as possible. We encourage local artists to exhibit their work at management cocktails every week so our guests have a chance to sample some local culture. After all, you don’t fly eleven hours round the world to experience everything you could at home.
